The following dropped into my mailbox and I thought it may be useful to some in my network
Market Forces 2008
================================================================
It's no secret the media and entertainment job markets are struggling.
Cultural workers across all sectors need industry intelligence to help them manage their careers and navigate the changing landscape.
MediaIntelligence is here to provide support. To this end, we've attached a copy of some "crib notes" we compiled to help media professionals better understand what's happening in the job market. We've also included some tips on how to keep your existing job if you have one, and also how to survive a lay off if you've been one of the unfortunate ones.
This season the trend is towards contract work. Many firms are filling their staffing needs on a short term basis, others are reluctant to make a hire at this point as they cannot guarantee full-time employment six months from now.
MI is happy to help set you up for success. Remember, we can help you
review job applications, cover letters/emails, and also provide support for the all-important job interview, if you are one of the top 20% to secure one!
We look forward to being of service soon. Don't hesitate to call with your career questions and/or concerns.
